HORNBY railway enthusiasts were out in force at the weekend for a showcase event of model trains.

The Orpington Model Railway Society show took place at Pratts Bottom Village Hall, Norsted Lane over Saturday and Sunday and featured demonstrations and sales stands, with experts on hand to offer advice.

Chairman of the society, John Arkell, said: "Everyone had a really good time, there was a real mix of people and we totalled 827 visitors over the two days.

"It's a very friendly show and we're thrilled that some of the proceeds will help fund new disabled facilities at the Pratts Bottom village hall."

He added: "We're now looking forward to our next event in Bromley Common in June.
