Man flown in to Biggin Hill airport over alleged sex trafficking offences is charged

Police investigating a series of suspected brothels run across north Kent have charged a man.

Romas Drulia was flown in to Biggin Hill airport yesterday (Thursday), after he was arrested at the border of Poland and Germany.

The arrest, on February 15 happened while he tried to cross the border in Sweicko, western Poland.

A European arrest warrant had previously been issued.

The 34-year-old of no fixed address was charged yesterday with three counts of human trafficking for sexual exploitation, six counts of controlling prostitution for gain and four counts of managing a brothel for prostitution.

The charges relate to alleged brothels in Rochester, Gillingham, Chatham and Maidstone which were run between April 2013 and October 2015.

Drulia appeared in court today (Friday, March 3) and was remanded in custody to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on March 31.
