A huge cannabis factory was uncovered when police arrested three men suspected of trying to steal the drugs.
Officers discovered a house in Percy Road, Penge, had been converted into a large drug making den with more than 500 cannabis plants when they detained the suspects at 1am on Thursday.
Three men from Lambeth, south London, two aged 20 and one 23, were held on suspicion of burglary and remain in custody at Bromley Police Station.
A police spokesman said other drug paraphernalia was found and enquiries are ongoing to trace the owner of the house.
He said an energy provider had been contacted to make the safe what he described as a “dangerous electrical set up” for growing the weed.
Some of the Class B substance seized will be used for evidence and the rest destroyed.
The Metropolitan Police Service’s helicopter and dog unit along with Bromley Police staff attended.
BBC Radio DJ Chris Evans flew into Biggin Hill Air Field today in a Lancaster Bomber to mark the 70th anniversary of the Dambusters raid.
