Essential gas main replacement works will begin at Southborough Road on Tuesday, April 3, falling at the beginning of the school Easter holidays.

The works will begin at the mini roundabout junction of Southborough Road, Oldfield Road and Southlands Road, with all three being closed at the junction only, to through traffic for the duration of the Easter holidays until Sunday April 15.

Whilst the closure is in place, traffic for Southborough Road will be diverted via Southborough Lane, Blackbrook Lane and Bickley Park Road A222 in both directions.

There will also be local diversions in place for both Southlands Road and Oldfield Road too.

Bus routes 336 and R7 will both be affected by the closures, and Route 336 will not serve Southborough Road between Southlands Grove and Southborough Lane - it will instead be diverted via Hawthorne Road, Blackbrook Lane and Southborough Lane in both directions.

Route R7 will not serve Oldfield Road, Southborough Road or Hawthorne Road, it will be diverted along Blackbrook Lane and will then continue with its usual line of route via Barfield Road in both directions.

Once this phase of works has been completed and the roads are re-opened to traffic, gas company SGN will continue to work along Southborough Road towards Waldegrave Road under temporary signals.

SGN have agreed to manually operate the signals during peak times to minimise delays, and the temporary lights are expected to be in place for up to 10 weeks.
