Oaks Park Medical Centre will now be home to Park Practice and Oakfield Surgery

The first patients have been welcomed to a £5million medical centre which opened in Bromley on Monday, June 12.

The centre will be home to Park Practice and Oakfield Surgery and will provide primary care facilities for the community, serving a patient list of over 13,000 people.

NHS Property Services coordinated the construction of the site, in Oakfield Road, which will be known as Oaks Park Medical Centre.

The building features nine consulting rooms, four treatment rooms with utilities, and a meeting and health education room. Space has also been provided for a pharmacy.

Dr Margaret Fagbohun, senior partner at The Park Practice, said: “The Oaks Park Medical Centre will enable us to keep delivering healthcare to the local community, and we would like to thank all our patients and NHS colleagues for their continued support.”

The construction project was carried out in partnership with Haven Health Properties Ltd and Buxton Building Contractors Ltd and involved the demolition of the former clinic on the site that closed in 2010.

Dr Alka Sharma, of Oakfield Surgery, said: “This centre is not only efficient but convenient and will offer a quality service for the local Penge and Anerley population.

“Our patients’ health and social care was the key driving force for this grand project. Our staff and patients have welcomed this move and we wish every success to all involved.

“The project is a great example of a patient centred, forward thinking and responsive service in the community for the welfare of the local residents.”

Dr Angela Bhan, chief officer at Bromley Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “We welcome these new and improved health facilities as part of our drive to improve the quality of general practice and community services for people in Bromley.”

Pauline Barnes, a director at Buxton Building Contractors, added: “As main building contractors, we are very proud to have been part of the successful delivery team for the Primary Health Care Medical facility.

“Patients, staff and visitors within the local and surrounding communities can now reap the benefits of this quality building on a daily basis.”
