Ireland’s Olympic boxing team said the death of their former team-mate Darren Sutherland “lingers” with them and that they “still consider him” part of the squad.
The boxer was living in Bromley when he hanged himself in 2009, just a year after turning professional following the Beijing Games.
He was managed by Chislehurst promoter Frank Maloney who worked with former heavyweight world champion Lennox Lewis at the peak of his career.
A Bromley man is one of 10 Millwall supporters charged with violent disorder last week, after fights broke out during the FA Cup semi-final against Wigan Athletic at Wembley last month.
