The walk takes place in May

Fundraisers are being encouraged to support a hospice which has existed in the community since the 1960s.

St Christopher’s Hospice, which has branches in Orpington and Sydenham, is commemorating its 50th anniversary with a fun walk lasting three, five, eight or 11 miles.

Keston Common is set to host this year’s walk alongside a fair-ground on May 14.

Walkers will start their journeys at a time of their choice between 8.30am and midday.

Last year the event saw over 3,000 walkers raise £200,000 for the hospice - but the hospice is keen to beat that total for its 50th anniversary.

The purpose built hospice was the first of its kind when it was founded in 1967, by Dame Cicely Saunders in Sydenham.
