A REWARD of £600 is being offered for the conviction of hooligans who brutally mutilated and killed two seven-month-old baby swans.

A REWARD of £600 is being offered for the conviction of hooligans who brutally mutilated and killed two seven-month-old baby swans.

The cygnets were 'senselessly' attacked in Kelsey Park, Stone Park Avenue, Beckenham, between 5 and 5.30pm on March 5 this year.

Now the Kelsey & Eden Park Safer Neighbourhood Team (KEPSNT) and Beckenham businesses have put up the money for information leading to the conviction of the yobs, thought to be aged between 15 and 17, who beat the animals with sticks.

Sergeant Steve King, head of KEPSNT, said: "This was a vicious and utterly senseless attack and I would appeal for anyone with any information to contact us and help in bringing those responsible for this particularly nasty attack on defenceless wildlife to justice".

The Beckenham businesses that have sponsored the reward include the Slug & Lettuce, Nationwide Building Society, HSBC, Waitrose and GlaxoSmithKline.

Anyone with any information should contact KEPSNT on 020 8721 2616.

Alternatively, call crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, Bromley Police on 01689 881212 or the RSPCA Hotline on 0300 1234999.
