A by-election has been called in Bromley after a newly-elected councillor resigned.

Dave Wibberly stepped down from the role last week due to job relocation.

An election for his ward of Kelsey and Eden Park will now be held on November 29.

The Tory councillor won his seat with 2,412 votes, 16 per cent of the turnout, during May’s local election.

There will be no ID needed for this vote, unlike earlier in the year when Bromley took part in a controversial trial scheme.

Other councillors in the ward are Peter Leslie Dean and Diane Helen Smith.

Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm. The deadline to register to vote is November 13.

Candidates will be announced on Monday, November 5.

  • "controversial" trial voter ID scheme? Only controversial as far as parties and people who want people to vote more than once using false identities is concerned. Most people were perfectly happy to provide ID.
