Liam Trotter scored at his old stomping ground, Portman Road

Millwall midfielder Liam Trotter was delighted that his return to Ipswich eneded in victory for the Lions.

The 23-year-old, who made 22 appearances for the Tractor Boys between 2006 and 2010, scored the second goal of the game as the Lions triumphed 3-0 at Portman Road.

“I’m not going to lie, you always want to come back to your old club and do well,” Trotter said.

“It’s my home town club and I wanted to make it here but it didn’t work out so it was nice to come back and play well.”

Millwall played with great freedom, after the shackles of a relegation battle were lifted with last week’s victory over Leicester.

“Last week against Leicester we needed the win badly as did the Foxes,” trotter said.

“It can make you a little bit nervous.

“We can express ourselves more and play better football and you can see that in our performance on Saturday.

“We could have passed the ball better but we took our chances and I think we were good for a win.”
