Millwall star Liam Trotter vowed that the Lions will stay up, despite their 2-1 defeat to West Ham.

The midfielder cancelled out Carlton Cole’s opener with a sensational strike only for Winston Reid to fire home the winner in controversial circumstances after Julien Faubert appeared to foul goalkeeper David Forde in the build-up.

“That’s the way it goes when you’re at the bottom. We are at the bottom and they are top - and sometimes decisions like that go against you and it falls their way,” Trotter said.

“Even so, the strike was incredible. With that, nine times out of 10 - and no disrespect to him - that goes into row Z. But we can’t reflect on that, we didn’t do enough.

“But there’s lots to be positive about. At 11 against 11 we were on top. West Ham only really looked to hit it to Cole and make it stick. We played the better football and I am confident we can kick on and push up the league soon.”
