Chris Taylor is feeling the benefit from a tough pre-season

Millwall new boy Chris Taylor believes that he has settled into the club after taking part in the Lions’ pre-season training boot camp.

The striker completed his move to the Den from Oldham last month and took part in the training in the west country.

“It was one of the toughest things I’ve ever done,” he recalls.

“It was hard work but very beneficial, and was also a good way to get to know the rest of the boys so it was a great few days. The lads have really helped me settle in very quickly.

“They are all very friendly and welcoming and I feel like I’ve settled in in no time.”

The south Londoners were put through their paces in a military style camp, running through tunnels and hauling logs up and down hills.

“It would be easier to say what we weren’t doing!” he added.

“We were running whilst carrying huge logs, crawling through pitch black tunnels filled with water, wading through swamps up to our chests, running up and down cobbled hills, the list goes on. It was proper army stuff.

“You’d be getting up at six or seven in the morning to run up and down the beach.

“Every day there was a four mile run to end with. I’ve done some pretty difficult pre-seasons before but nothing like this. It was very hard but we are feeling the benefits of it.

“All the lads were delighted just to see a ball once we were back at the training ground!”
