Jason Steele praised Julian Speroni after Boro played out a 0-0 draw with the Eagles

Middlesbrough keeper Jason Steele hailed his Crystal Palace counterpart Julian Speroni after the two sides played out a 0-0 draw on Saturday.
The Boro stopper revealed that Speroni had wanted to be substituted at half-time because of the Arctic conditions in the north east.
“It’s the sign of a good goalkeeper that when you have nothing else to do, you can make a save like Julian did. So credit to him for that,” Steele said.
“I spoke to him at half-time and he said, ‘I’m finished out there, it’s too cold!’
“I knew exactly what he meant but it was nice and busy for me and that probably kept me warmer.
“Without doubt, Palace had the better chances and a lot more shots than we did.
“They were the better side so it’s definitely a point gained for us than two lost.”
