Bromley boss Mark Goldberg wants his team to build on their surprise success at Weston-super-Mare, but will continue his rebuilding programme if he needs to.

The new-look Ravens secured their first win in 17 games when they thumped Weston 3-0 to move out of the Blue Square Bet South relegation zone on Saturday.

New signings Anthony Thomas and Pierre Joseph-Dubois both scored for a side containing six mid-season recruits.

And while the manager is hoping the platform for recovery has now been built, he is taking nothing for granted and will take further action if his team fails to generate some momentum in the coming weeks.

Goldberg said: “Psychologically it was important that we’ve moved out of the bottom three.

“Winning three points away from home was exactly what we needed.

“We deserved more than we got from the previous three games, so it was great that we produced not just the performance but the result as well.

“But it’s going to take another two or three games before we can say we’ve turned the corner.

“I’d like to think that’s it for now in terms of new signings, but we’ll do whatever it takes.

“If things don’t go right over the next two or three weeks we’ll look at the situation again.”

Hakeem Araba put Bromley on their way with a goal in the second minute, before Thomas and Joseph-Dubois sealed victory in the final quarter of an hour.

Goldberg insisted his men fully deserved their long-awaited success, despite Weston boss Craig Laird being dismissive of the visitors by saying: “I don’t mind being beaten by a better side but this was ridiculous.”

The Bromley boss responded: “I think he underestimated us because of our position.

“I think it’s fair to say we dominated from start to finish. If anything, I think we could have scored more than three.”

Goldberg paid special tribute to the influence of Thomas, Joseph-Dubois and fellow new recruit Albert Jarrett.

He said: “Those three new additions have made an impact.

“Thomas scored twice against us for Maidenhead this season and there’s no doubt that he’s a talent.

“As a winger, Albert’s final delivery is better than we’ve had up to now this season. We’ve stayed loyal to certain players – too loyal – and we just can’t wait any longer. We had to bring in more experience.”

Havant & Waterlooville visit Hayes Lane on Saturday and Goldberg is eager for his men to secure a first home league win since last August.

He said: “It’s important we give the supporters something to enjoy and it’s all about results now.”
