Budding Gravesend ballroom stars are being given the chance to take part in a masterclasses delivered by Strictly Come Dancing star Giovanni Pernice during his upcoming tour.

The TV dancer will be hosting sessions with dancing schools when he hits the road with his show Il Ballo è Vita.

Mr Pernice, who rose to fame when he joined the hit BBC show in 2015, will visit Gravesend’s Woodville Theatre on July 5.

The star is offering masterclasses to dancing schools and groups who purchase 25 tickets or more to see him.

He will host his tuition sessions either at the theatre where he is performing or at the group’s own dance studios, and will watch the dancers perform before giving feedback and advice, as well as sharing some of his own tips and secrets.

“I love dancing, and I always consider myself to be very fortunate to do what I love for a living, so I like to give back what I can, especially when it comes to helping the next generation of dancers,” he said.

“Ballroom dancing continues to grow in popularity and it is fantastic to see so many dancing groups today boasting some very talented young dancers.

“The aim of my masterclasses is to meet and hopefully inspire some of the stars of tomorrow. It’s wonderful to get the chance to meet such talented young people and hopefully help them on their journey to the top.”

Il Ballo è Vita – Italian for Dance is Life – is a love story set in a Sicilian café bar. Leading man Mr Pernice thinks he has found love, but not everything is as easy as it first appears.

Mr Pernice is joined by Strictly troupe dancer Luba Mushtuk and a team of fellow dancing professionals in the show, which features classic dances like the Quickstep, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble, Argentine Tango, along with his signature dance, the Jive.

Interested dancing schools and groups are advised to contact Paul Irving at Strictly Theatre Co on paul@strictlytheatreco.com and will then be required to show proof of ticket purchase before the masterclass can be confirmed.
