The display will be put up by All Saints Art Group

An art group from Thanet will be holding their annual art exhibition in the church hall where they meet every week.

All Saints Art Group will be holding the Exhibition of Traditional and Comtemporary Art featuring pieces made with oils, acrylics, and watercolours over the August Bank Holiday weekend next week.

There will be over 100 pictures for sale and what the group say are “reasonable prices”.

The main feature of the exhibition will be a recreation of every bay around the Isle of Thanet, by all 18 members of the art group.

The 18 individual paints of the coastline will be exhibited around walls of the church hall and will all be for sale. There will be a map of Thanet accompanying the display to show where the bays are and their names.

Art is being used as a big regeneration tool across Thanet and since the Turner Contemporary opened in 2011 on Margate’s seafront, over 1.5 million people have visited the gallery, showing a rise in popularity of art as a leisure activity.

The vision of the Turner Contemporary organisation is Art Inspiring Change, using collaboration, learning, ambition and transformation to give everyone to access to world-class art.

Local historian, Jenny Burgess, will be photographing the paintings and producing pamphlets about all the indiviual bays of Thanet during the event.

The All Saints Art Group started in October 2013 and they meet evert Friday at the All Saints church house in Birchington, where the exhibition is being held.

Opening times for the display are from 10am to 4pm from August 26-28, and is open to everyone including dogs and kids.

The exhibition is free entry, and there will be refreshments, homemade cakes, tombola and of course, art.
