Deres peg back leaders Faversham

ERITH AND BELVEDERE closed the gap on runaway leaders Faversham Town with an impressive 3-1 victory at Park View Road.

John-Paul Collier put the Deres ahead 17 minutes in before Adam Cottrell doubled the advantage on the stroke of half-time.

Dale Skelton put Faversham back in the match with a goal 13 minutes after the interval, but Ross Cable's effort with quarter of an hour remaining sealed a huge win for the home side.

The result leaves the Deres in second place on 24 points, seven adrift of table-topping Town with a game in hand.

Herne Bay currently occupy third with 22 points while SEVENOAKS TOWN sit a place and point further back after overcoming Corinthian 3-1 at home. Sam Hasler put the visitors in front with 15 minutes gone, but Charlie Burgess levelled on 45, before Billy Shinners turned the tables in the 51st minute. Joe Creasey then wrapped up the points when he notched just past the hour mark.

BECKENHAM TOWN lie fifth despite losing 1-0 to ninth-placed Hythe Town, for whom Dave Cook netted the decisive strike five minutes prior to half-time.

ERITH TOWN, whose clash at Sporting Bengal United was abandoned due to floodlight failure, are seventh - level on 15 points with GREENWICH BOROUGH. The latter hosted Tunbridge Wells and were humbled as the away side rattled home three unanswered goals.

Scott Whibley got things underway with a 24th-minute opener before Jon Pilbeam extended within 10 minutes. Alex Rich claimed the third in the dying moments.

n THAMESMEAD Town went back to second in the Ryman North after drawing 1-1 with Ware last weekend.

The visitors took the lead in the 54th minute, but Thamesmead drew level with six minutes to go as Andy Constable popped up to score and gain Mead a vital point.
