Cannabis grower jailed for two years

23 February 2006
A MAN has been jailed for two years after around 1,000 cannabis plants and CS gas were found in his booby-trapped home.

Tinh Phuck Dang, 37, of Chatterton Road, Bromley, was sentenced at Bromley Magistrates' Court last Thursday.

He was arrested in October last year when cops raided his home after being tipped off about the plants. Officers found all the doors and windows were rigged with live wire running straight to the mains. There was also a can of CS gas in the house.

As they entered they saw Dang run out of the back of the property and arrested him. Every room in the building contained cannabis plants at different stages of maturity, as well as an irrigation system, lights, heaters and fans. Dang admitted cultivation of cannabis and possession of the CS gas and was given 18 months and six months respectively.

Another charge of abstraction of electricity was ordered to stay on his record.

Sergeant Chris Swain said "This was a well organised operation involving our partner agencies and sends a firm message that the cultivation, supply and use of controlled drugs will not be tolerated."
